My Story:
After a few training days on snowshoes with my dad, I entered my first snowshoe race as 13-year-old. Dad warned that I might need to walk some of the uphills, but I ran the entire 5k and was hooked for life! A few years later, I entered the 10k division at the same event. Stronger and more experienced, I found myself competing with the likes of Tom Sobal, the most successful snowshoe racer ever. Sobal still had my number (and would for awhile longer), but the racing was great.
While my warm-weather objectives have transitioned from soccer and basketball to running to triathlon to adventure racing, snowshoeing has remained the staple winter activity that ensures fitness and enthusiasm come spring. I cherish wintry weekends on snowshoes above treeline in the Rocky Mountains, particularly when shared with Dad or close friends. After over 10 years of racing, I continue to enjoy the camaraderie, the competition, and, most of all, the post-race chili!
If you're thinking about a snowshoe race or outing, go for it! I guarantee a great time.

Season Goals:
I plan on racing most weekends, and will use snowshoe races and training runs as the staple of my winter training; snowshoeing is the best exercise I know of for cardiovascular fitness and leg strength.
